It’s Time To Revisit That New Year’s Resolution

Yes, Spring is here!

When we stop and think about it, the time of year to achieve successful resolutions is not in the middle of winter when the days are shorter, the weather is colder and people tend to spend more time indoors. Naturally, winter is a time of year when all creatures tend to be less active.

There is no time like the present

And yet, when it comes to making health & lifestyle commitments we’ve found that there’s no time like the spring!

As the weather starts to shift and the days begin getting longer, there’s a new energy that starts to fuel people and their moods. We suggest you run with it — figuratively and literally.
Taking advantage of the seasonal change can up your energy due to the increase of lighter, fresher vegetables, longer, sunnier days, and new commitments.

Here are a few tips to help you dust off Ol’ Man Winter:

**Wake up earlier and get your workout in**

Since many of us were used to waking up when it was dark in the winter your body won’t think it’s that much of a difference. Then, once you are done and work is over there’s still light left at the end of the day.

**Get Outside!**

Start taking advantage of longer days and be in the sun when you can. This will help you start to increase vitamin D production and melatonin which will make your brain sharper and your mood happier.

**Get to the farmer’s market**

Spring is an ideal time to start committing to the routine of local shopping for the seasonal harvest. Spring brings lighter foods and tons of greens. These foods help us burn off the fat we stored with heavier foods during the winter. Keep it local and seasonal and your body will thank you.

**Commit to a new challenge**

Create a resolution that challenges you. Without the weather as an obstacle, give yourself 6-8 weeks and literally go for it on a challenge. Something that you have always wanted to do but perhaps you were afraid to learn or try. Commit to making it happen and then take action on that commitment.

If you haven’t been able to get to your resolutions don't stress about it. Now is the perfect time to begin taking care of your life on a much deeper level.

This season is about things coming to life. Everything begins to perk up and that goes for humans as well. When you live in harmony with the seasons you align yourself with the natural order of life. So use this Spring season to "spring" into action. Get it? Good.
